Rafael Pettersson
About This Site
Rafael Pettersson is my son and this site is a place marker for the future. I always tell most parents I meet that it’s a really smart idea to secure your children’s domain name, e.g. name.com. It’s just like virtual real estate, except that the domain name literally has your name on it. If your child does get famous, hopefully a big tennis star like my Rafa, it would really not look good if you didn’t have your own domain name secured. Remember, there is nothing stopping someone else from buying your name and nothing you can do about if they do get it first.
Anyway, my hope is that once Rafa is old enough to write, which should be soon, that he will keep this blog as a sort of diary. I think it’s important to realize that our children will be far more advanced in using technology than we ever will be.
First Diary Entry
Right now I’m writing and setting up this blog in Spain. It’s Monday 16th April 2012 and we’re having an absolutely awesome time so far here. Uncle Dean, Auntie Ali and Jasmine have just visited and they liked it so much that they’re coming back again in May (hopefully we can find them somewhere better to stay than at Dave’s, Ha!).
We just enrolled Rafa and Eva in swimming so hopefully that goes well today. It’s 3 days a week at only 20 euros per month, so pretty good value. We’ll also pop into the tennis center before swimming to see if we can get Rafa into some lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Eva is doing some sort of Gymnastics on those days. We’ve extended our hire car until the 25th of April, that is when we leave for Barcelona. We’re going to the Barcelona Open. Rafael Nadal is confirmed to play this year. He frequently wins here and we have tickets for both semi-finals and the final, so he better win it!
I’m playing tennis at the Montepiedra Tennis Club which is down the N332 about 5 minutes North. It’s pretty social, mostly retirees and holiday makers like us. Not too many good players there, but I’m happy hitting with anyone usually so it suits me fine.
Rafa and Eva have just had Easter and there is still lots of chocolate bunnies and bits of chocolate egg lingering around the house. We’re not religious of course, but the holidays and stories are great! Rafa is really into his Lego and there is also an awesome playground right across from our house which the kids can play in. It’s really good because we can see them through the windows and there is lots of smooth scooter paths.
